How Driving Has Changed

Since the introduction of driving tests there have been many changes, but in recent years, roads, signs, speed limits and the volume of traffic on UK roads have all changed tremendously.

Driving lessons and the driving test has therefore had to change to help new drivers cope with the much more hazardous driving conditions of today.

Before you can take the practical driving test, you must have passed a theory test, and a hazard perception test. The theory test is a multi choice PC based test on a touch screen terminal and the hazard test is an interactive video clip using screen and a mouse.

You must pass both theory elements at the same time, before you can go on to take the practical driving test.

The Syllabus - How it works

The syllabus you follow when you learn to drive is set out by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). Your instructor will use a Driver Development Card,  or sheet, to track your progress as you master each part of learning to drive.

It shows you and your instructor exactly when you are ready for your practical test.

This Development Card lists everything you'll need to learn and, during your lessons, your instructor will score each section of the syllabus on this card.  Different schools have different methods of scoring but, essentially, scoring is from "1 to 5" or "Poor to Good" - the higher score or rating meaning you are at test standard on that particular subject.

Our Lesson and Course Structure

Free Driving Lessons

Drive Me Crazy
driving school lessons follow the approved DSA syllabus with your own written "Driver Record" to chart progress through the learning process using a scale of "needing attention" to "good".

Learners will need to prove they can handle each area of driving skill independently before they are considered ready for the practical test.

We offer a wide range of tuition, from the raw beginner to the more advanced - and the more lessons you book, the more money you'll save!

Individual Lessons
These can be booked for between 1 - 3 hours duration and arranged to suit your timetable at the current hourly rate.

Normal driving Courses
You can Block Book a course and pre-pay in return for a discount.

Intensive courses - 10 day - 14 day or 21 day
Our intensive courses differ from some other driving schools, in so far as we do not believe that cramming a full DSA syllabus into only 5 days is the best way to learn and retain safe driving skills.

We generally recommend spreading the course over at least 10 days, preferably 14 or 21, and we will tailor courses to individual needs.  Of course if you have been taught before and simply need refreshing 5 days may well be adequate.

Many competitor's fixed fee 5 day courses will only give around 50% of the time to practical in car driving, with 50% spent in classroom activities, and you are then placed for test whether ready or not !

Our courses give 100% in car training, however long it takes and we will only place you for test when we consider you a safe driver capable of passing.

Under 17's

In addition to conventional learner driver training, DriveMe-Crazy also offers off road coaching and experience events to youngsters from its 25 acre base near Wymondham - thus preparing them for the road as well as helping to minimise time to test once reaching 17.

Other Courses Available

We also offer the Pass Plus Course for those who wish to develop their skills further, including motorway, night driving etc.

For those wishing to turn their driving experience into a worthy career we can offer ADI Part 2 & Part 3 Training.
